RANGERS SHUT OUT TIGERS
07/22/2010
After a riveting performance on Monday, the Texas Rangers turned around and delivered again, only this time it was a complete shutout. The game ended in a stunning 8-0 and after nine innings of domination, the Rangers walked off the field proud.
With the best season in franchise history, you can expect there to be some shattered records. The thing that is most surprising is the speed at which they are being broken. For the first time ever, a Rangers starter has claimed seven victories. Tommy Hunter has won every single game he has opened recently.
Hamilton hit his 23rd homer, and the Texas outfield provided excellent backup for Hunter. The duo has had some great results lately, and every time Hunter starts a game, Hamilton comes through with a home run. The Tigers were on top of the AL-Central until recently, seven losses have knocked them out of first place. Texas is responsible for a few of them.
Detroit just couldn’t get any hits off Hunter, it took until the fourth, when Austin Jackson managed to land a single. Detroit has been having a rough time recently, some players just haven’t been living up to their potential, and the results are showing.
Texas on the other hand, is looking better than ever. All the players know exactly what to do, and they get their jobs done with brutal efficiency once they step on the field. With a very focused team, they are pushing hard for a division playoff. If they can keep it up, it is sure to happen. Their best year ever can only get better if things continue in much the same fashion.
Manager Ron Washington said that he was extremely proud of his crew on Tuesday, and that he expects great results from Hunter in the future. Pulling for his team and putting them deep in the game with a great lead was a very fortunate thing for Texas, the bullpen is a little roughed up at the moment.
